Have you ever wondered what to do with all those old cards?
I have. Somehow I’ve always managed to get attached to all those little bits of paper filled with signatures, best wishes and cute illustrations. I just can’t bring myself to part with them!
This happened to me in January when Ranger’s baby shower left me with a big stack of cards I didn’t want to just throw away. Some had notes to me and Israel, some were addressed to the baby, and all were just plain cute.
So I set them aside for a rainy day.
These notes from my grandmas (the babe’s great grandmas) were my motivation to find something to do with them!
So I put my scissors to good use. I chopped all the best bits out of all those lovely cards. Those notes to the new baby, the cute little sayings the ever so fun fuzzy dogs, the little shoes. They all had to be put to better use!
After that is was time to break out the gluesticks! I pulled out my scrapbooking paper (long since unused because of this digital era, bah) and glued down all the cuteness and love.
And used some thumbtacks to hang the results!
Sometime when our budget and wall space allow, I’ll put them in frames for a classier look (think shadow box), but for now it’s lovely spot of color on our otherwise boring walls!
I’m glad I didn’t have to throw all these cards out!
Eventually, I’m going to do the same thing with our HUGE stack of wedding cards to which I am currently lending my limited cabinet square footage.
It will be fun to be able to do this for each occasion that comes around. I might even make some christmas decorations the same way!
What do you do with old cards? Hang on to them? Toss them? Take pictures and then toss? Fill the attic?
Have you done anything similar before?
Smart! Gonna have to do some of that! So many cards are just too sweet to throw away. This is perfect. :)
