(This is a part of 31 days to Focus and Refresh a blog series my mom, sister and I are hosting as we spend 31 minutes a day improving our hearts, homes, and habits in the month of October. We would love your company!)
As my last few hours of free internet tick by I find myself getting a little dramatic.
I’m OD-ing on facebook. Trying at least. Except there’s nothing going on. So I’m getting bored.
I keep opening pinterest in hopes it will actually prove interesting. But no. I am still bored. But still wasting time in the worst possible fashion.
Accomplishing nothing of import I keep clicking through random place after random place. Oh look: Goodreads! I’ll write down a few books from my to-read list. And oh yes, put library books on hold. Notify the Facebook community of upcoming absence. Check everything over and over again. “A month without Google Reader?? What will I read?”. And so forth and so on. Bored. Glazed (and overexposed to screens) eyes. But still mindlessly consuming in preparation for this fast.
Just thinking: get as much as you can now!
It’s just a little silly. And by ‘a little’ I mean ‘a stupid amount’.
But yes. Here I am.
Preparing myself for it.
I keep wondering how I’ll find the nerve and gumption required not to open up my iPad and while away the hours.
It’s a little ridiculous.
And I’m getting frustrated.
I can’t wait to just start so I can stop wondering and start doing.
31 days of 31 minutes a day of internet/screen time….combined with 31 minutes of something fun/creative/useful/necessary but unusual activity.
Here we go.
Here comes real life.
Here comes productivity.
I told you I was getting dramatic.
I’m sorry. Really I am. Lol.
Would you care to join us in our productivity? We start tomorrow with goals in 31 minute increments. You can be as dramatic or as practical as you like. You can have a blog or not. Follow along. Tell us how it’s going. You can keep your interwebz, I promise. Mine just turned into an inter-jail instead of a gauzy web so it needs the boot…and maybe a welder…and a bomb. Anyway.
We’re breaking old habits and making new.
It should be ridiculously fun. :)
