31 days to Focus and Refresh: Day 1: Box Hoarder Extraordinaire!

(This is a part of 31 days to Focus and Refresh a blog series my mom, sister and I are hosting as we spend 31 minutes a day improving our hearts, homes, and habits in the month of October. We would love your company!)

Today my 31 minutes of productivity turned into more than an hour altogether. I organized the closets in my front entryway so I could put some of the baby accessories (huge bike trailer, big not jogging stroller) in it to free up some floor space.

I’ve been meaning to do this for a few weeks now, but I’ve been doubtful of the abilities of my closet space.

Amazingly, it was managed quite neatly.

Ideally I would have liked a shrink-ray so I could fit the bikes in there too…but alas. You can’t have everything. ;)

These are the before pictures of the entryway.

Before and after of cupboard spaces:

(Sometime this month I may end up making a curtain for this portion to hide the clutter and make a more welcoming first look into our home.)

Dirt and flowerpots are all in the same place now. Along with the Cherry Coke…hmm.

The biggest change was in this closet. The space is actually being utilized now by the vacuum, bike trailer, stroller, and an empty stereo box (just in case the stereo breaks, you know).

And the final effect:

Not too different, but just enough neater to make me happy. Plus, now we can open the front door all the way!!

This is where all the extra space came from:

Apparently I’m a hoarder of empty cardboard boxes. My excuse? We might move soon. Those boxes have been there a year and a half. Lol. It was high time to recycle them in favor of a nicer friendlier home now. :)

  1. Lol, I have a pile(cut down) of really nice boxes from when we moved. I’ve been saving them because they’re too nice to toss, but you can have them when you need them. :)
