It’s that time of year again!

The last couple years, as you may or may not know, I have participated in something called 31 days during the month of October. It’s a writing challenge that used to be hosted by the Nester but now has it’s very own home at

Pretty fun :)

We’ll see how many thousands will join this year.

My first year it was all I could do just to post every day on a very general theme. I did it with my mom and sis and our theme was Focus and Refresh. We each had our own take on it, but my angle was very limited internet/screen time while trying to get a few extra things done. Here’s the link to my posts that year:

Last year I wanted a chance to focus the project on writing and reflecting a specific topic instead of spur of the moment and doing. So I started early and wrote beginning in July about mothering, what I was learning, and learning how to do the job well. The last post with a list of all my posts that year is right here:

I’ve known for a quite a while a big general concept of what I’ve wanted to write about this year but I wasn’t able to figure out a good way to do it. So I was talking to Israel one day about a month ago and he gave me an idea and then told me to write something that was interesting to me (for some reason that seems like simple advice, but it is oh so easy to forget). Ultimately his idea combined with one smaller piece of my idea ended up being a right amount of focus for this year’s 31 days.

This year is different because I haven’t written anything except the introduction (ok and probably a few thousand words of brainstorming) beforehand. So each day I’ll be writing free and short. I only want to do two or three hundred words a post. We’ll see how it goes.

So starting on Wednesday, I’ll be writing under the heading of:

31 Days of Niche Convictions:

Are you curious yet?

No idea what to think?

Good. Come back Wednesday!
