Books I can’t forget from 2016

I have one last category of books that didn’t quite make my top 4, but I still really felt strongly about for one reason or another and want to share with you.

So.
Books I can’t forget:

Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell – Oh my Gosh. It led me on for a 1000 pages and then dropped me hard. Heartrending. It’s a love/hate relationship.

The Little Bookstore of Big Stone Gap by Wendy Welch – I have fantasies about running a bookstore. This was such a fun account of one couple’s bookstore journey.

Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese – sweeping but detailed, two cultures, doctors, surgery, brothers, Ethiopia, USA. What a story.

Immortal Diamond by Richard Rohr –a glimpse into contemplative practices, knowing your true self/soul vs false self/roles, and how the two interplay towards emotional and spiritual maturity and wholeness. Excellent pairing with Eat, Pray, Love, but let the timing find you.

Love Warrior by Glennon Doyle Melton – a book to learn all the things but also to learn by living – brokenness, womanness, and marriage. I liked this book, though I was sad to learn of Glennon’s divorce and it made me feel differently about this book, in the end it’s still good, true and worth reading.

What is one book that has stuck with you in a surprising way this last year?
