Winter Survival and The Little Things

The Modern Mrs. Darcy is hosting a midwinter linkup where we all share the big and little of what’s keeping us sane right now. Its a fun winter pickmeup and a perfect antidote to all things politics and groundhog shadows.

Here’s what’s saving my life these days:

Fixer Upper Season 3 – It’s not on Netflix anymore but you can watch the whole season with full episodes on I’ll do anything for Fixer Upper:):)

I’m also completely jealous of this indoor herb garden! :) #homegoals

I am completely sold on Thredup. I’ve been a thrift store shopper for years but this is actually easier and more fun. There are more quality options. you can wait for the exact pair of jeans you want and buy them for 1/6th of the price. And kid options! I’ll have to share a more detailed post about my experience soon.

Date night vibe!

A few of my finds this time! Most of my items were between two and 10 dollars.  :) Here’s $10 off if you’ve yet to try it!

Creatives and entrepreneurs here and everywhere. I’ve been so inspired by a local publication called Makers Unwound with beautiful pictures, recipes, and inspiring creative endeavors in the Pacific Northwest. Time to start making things!

The idea of unschooling.

We’ve been throwing around what to do about school. It’s a whole story, but the short version is Ranger is old enough for kindergarten in the fall and all the options have pros and cons, but I am finding myself more and more inspired and at ease with the idea of unschooling (with the caveat that reading will be strongly encouraged as well as taught by osmosis). Big sigh of relief.

I think it will work.

I found this book especially fun and insightful for makers of all ages, but really good to read with unschooling at the back of my mind. Free to Make: How the Maker Movement is Changing Our Schools, Our Jobs, and Our Minds.

The hope that the snow might have melted off in a month. And my Subaru is also saving my life because I can still go places and navigate the glacier that is our culdesac.

6.  My bedroom makeover.

Something about one space where I want to make the bed and straighten up everyday because than it’s a mini retreat every time I go in there.

And of course there are all the mini-changes that have happened throughout the rest of the house from the momentum. I took the Nester’s Cozy Minimalist program and I loved it! Completely worth the money :)

Kid apps, reading time, crafts have been the only way to survive winter with a one year old, a 3 year old, and an almost five year old. Definite life savers.

What’s been saving your life this winter? Any tricks for surviving more than the usual amount of frozen? I’d love a peak into your life.

Find more of my moments on Instagram! It’s my favorite place online. :)
