One of the people I follow on Instagram reposted this from @theresgoodinstore this morning and I thought it was altogether just right for this morning’s Kind Side note.
I always want to know how everything will work out and where all the details will fall. I want to have peace made and pieces picked up before the next problem starts. I would much prefer dealing with one life stress at a time.
But that’s just not how it works.
It’s a piling on of to-do list items, doctors’ appointments, conflicts, and worries.
One thing doesn’t really wait for another.
I wish it did.
But I can choose to slow it down a smidgen. I can take things as they come instead worrying beforehand. I can choose to hold the small-moment joys and this-second problems instead of the big-picture worries and whole-life frustrations.
I can take a breath and find the very next thing I need to do in the midst of all my scattered thoughts and hopes.
It will all get done. It will all get figured out. Or it won’t.
Not every moment needs a to-do list.
One thing at a time.
Just one.
Not all the rest.
Just the one.
What’s your very next thing?
Mine is hitting publish here.
PS — I’ll be choosing a winner for a copy of Glorious Weakness by Alia Joy from all you people on my email list! I’ll send out the monthly-ish email at the end of this week. Add yourself to the list for a chance to win :)
