This cute picture book, The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires, is about a little girl trying to create something she has pictured in her head. She tries many iterations of her project changing it nearly completely each time. After the second to last attempt she looks back along the trail of mismatched inventions and then gets an idea. She takes a little piece of each invention to create exactly what she had in mind: The Most Magnificent Thing.
My favorite page shows her putting together her finished project while people pick through row of discarded designs finding things to create their own projects and fuel their own creativity.
Because:
- We won’t figure it out right away.
- Each attempt will probably show us something really useful.
- Our creative efforts might help other people in ways we’ll never know.
And that is good to remember.
This one is on my “to buy” list. Sweet review!
