But is this really me?
Is this what I want to do forever?
Is this who I am?
Is there even a future here?
Surely someone else could do it better.
But it’s just a hobby. I don’t need to take it any further.
Second-guessing questions and pre-evaluating sentences provoke all sorts of doubt and fear in me. I can easily shut down every idea and niggle of creativity with a “that’s not who I am” or “I don’t do that”, before I even take a glance down the path that says, “maybe, just maybe, it is.”
So instead of second-guessing or throwing all the new ideas to the wind, maybe try it out. Maybe give a little test run.
It doesn’t have to be exactly what you thought you’d do, it doesn’t have to be in your size in your favorite color with your name and favorite number emblazoned on the front. Try it out. Maybe the fit is better than you realized.
Maybe it is you.
And maybe it’s you enough.
Maybe it’s for you along the way to something else. And maybe this project is more for you than you ever dreamed and once you start you’ll find out just how much this new idea or plan or project or creativity is for you.
Don’t worry if it’s ‘for you’ before you even start. Give it a chance. Honor your instinct enough to see where it goes.
Maybe it’s not forever, but it’s you enough for now.
