Have you heard of Hope*Writers?

I joined Hope*Writers a year and a half ago. I stood on the sidelines for a while, but last spring I jumped in because after a decade of dabbling, I was ready to admit I want to write something specifically helpful. The Hope*Writers huge library of resources and dedicated community seemed like the next right thing. It has been helpful, motivating, and sometimes overwhelming, but I’ve been learning to call my Hope*Writer membership an apprenticeship instead of a membership and now it helps me even more.

Open Oct 1-4, 2019!

The cost is $47/month. Personally that is a significant amount of money, but I am thinking of it as an investment in my personal and professional development.

Before my mindset shift, I was frustrated by my lack of progress/intention/clarity because thought I had to justify the cost with really concrete progress. Last month, I decided to view it as an apprenticeship, a chance to learn alongside and among people who know more than me.

Now I consider it a chance to be in the workshop, use all the tools, ask all the questions, eavesdrop on other people’s questions, and make friends who are on the same path. A community tutelage where I sometimes choose my own lesson and sometimes I get to look over someone else’s shoulder at their journey. I’m learning even when it doesn’t seem like it. I don’t expect to master, absorb, or incorporate everything available right away. But I am in the room.

There’s space to experiment, time to be in progress, and knowledge to glean from. This long-term apprenticeship is working for me.

If you’ve been hoping to write, or have been trying but really don’t know where to start with all this online possibility, maybe Hope*Writers could be your starting place?

The Hope*Writers Library is huge already and each week they add new articles, helpful tips, and an interview with an agent, editor, writer, graphic designer, marketer, copy writer, or any other writing professional. It’s a good place to get started, or regain momentum, or learn to focus on what it is you really want to do with your words.

Hope*writers developed this fun quiz to find out where you are in your writing life with the hopes of helping you make a plan to move forward.

I share all this with you because I want you to know about this useful resource if you need it! I appreciate and feel blessed by the content and effort the Hope*Writers team puts into helping and supporting all the writers in the group.

Also, just to be transparent, if you do sign up, I will receive a percentage kickback as an affiliate. Maybe someday my writing might pay for my membership thanks to friends joining alongside me.

For now, I am paying out of pocket, just like you might be.

Let me know if you have any questions!
